Review: The very kind beauty consultant gave me a sample of Idealist when I purchased my ANR whitening serum. I only started to use it recently and have mixed thoughts about it.

The good: it was pretty liquid, spreading easily on my skin and dries fairly quickly to a matte, powdery finish. My skin didn’t turn oily as fast as it normally would by mid-day.

The bad: it accentuated flaky bits around my mouth and nose. I also didn’t see the supposed skincare effects (pores looking smaller instantly). If its only benefit was to mattify my skin, I don’t think I’ll be shelling out moolah for this sole purpose.

Sadly, the sample was too small to see any long-term effects – would probably give it another go if I had a sample large enough for 2-3 weeks.

Item Reviewed: Estee Lauder Take it Away Cleansing Milk

Price/pack size: -

Available at: All Estee Lauder counters

Ingredients:

Description: Quickly and gently removes all makeup, even long-wear or waterproof formulas.

Unique water-based creme-gel refreshes you with a crisp herbal citrus scent.

Rinses away easily and leaves skin feeling soft and smooth with no greasy afterfeel or oily residue.

Review: A friend in the beauty line once told me that cleansing milks actually cleanses better than cleansing oils. So having been disappointed by many brands of cleansing oils before, I decided to heed her advice and try cleansing milk.

I bought Estee Lauder’s Take it Away cleansing milk when I was at the counter months ago. Initially I found it to be quite alright since I was only wearing mineral makeup then. But having switched to MAC foundation in recent months, I find that the cleansing milk is inadequate for me. I have to cleanse twice using the milk then finish up with my usual foaming cleanser (ie, I am triple cleansing). However, if I were to use Simple cleansing wipes, I only need to use the wipe then cleanser. I also have to use copious amounts for a one-time usage – almost up to 5 pumps.

During rinsing, I often feel that the skin around my eyes is burning and a little prickly – signs of sensitivity to the cleanser. And my skin would experience redness as well. I think I’ll still carry on my search for a cleansing milk, or just stick to my Simple wipes.

Item Reviewed: Estee Lauder ANR Whitening serum

Price/pack size: S$137/50ml bottle

Available at: All Estee Lauder counters

Ingredients: Milk protein, Soybean extract, Grape fruit extract, Mulberry root extract, Rice brand extract, Bisabolol, Vitamin E, Chamomile among other ingredients (the list is just too long for me to type out)

Description: This unique multi-benefit recovery complex works day and night to repair skin’s appearance while helping prevent the appearance of dark spots, freckles, fine lines and wrinkles. Leaves skin with a renewed translucency and porcelain finish – lightened, more even toned and younger looking.

Review: I’ve been using the regular ANR for a while now, together with a separate whitening product to help with my acne scars. What better way to cut down on the number of steps in my regime than to incorporate this 2-in-1 product?

The texture of the whitening complex is slightly thicker than the regular one – it’s more of a gel-cream. However, it absorbs faster and leaves skin silky smooth. Despite me piling on other stuff after the serum, my skin didn’t feel heavy.

In the morning, my skin looks plump, rested and brighter. The lovely SA advised me to use for at least a month before expecting results, and I definitely will continue using it!

I headed to Vivo City to check out the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Whitening serum after work today. I actually didn’t have the intention of buying it, just wanted to test the texture, then come back and order from StrawberryNet. I ended up buying the above.

Seems alot? Hehe, I actually only bought the ANR Whitening serum and a lip liner to get the Gifts with Purchase (all the Cyberwhite stuff you see) and got another 3 samples from the lovely SA.

I thought I’d be paying slightly more at the counter (as compared to SNet) but since the lady was so nice and I had a Citibank card, it was ok. But I got a surprise when I checked the price of the identical item on SNet! ANR Whitening serum (50ml) costs S$137 while on SNet, the same item costs US$107 ~S$163!

The SA was really nice, recommending me stuff and gave me samples of products that she thought I might like to try (no pressure selling at all) – Idealist pore minimizing skin refinisher & Hydra Complete moisturizer. I also requested for a sample bottle of ANR Whitening, just in case it doesn’t suit my skin and I can bring back the brand new bottle for an exchange. She immediately pumped out a fresh bottle of the sample for me with no qualms! Besides that, she also gave me her number so I can text her in case I do get an allergic reaction from the products that I used. How very sweet of her!

If you ladies are interested in Estee Lauder products, you may want to drop by the EL counter at Vivo City Tangs and look for Danielle. =)
